Perrysburg Jackets FC - Football Crest Design
Background and Brief
Perrysburg is a city and southern suburb of Toledo located in Ohio. The city is renowned for both Fort Meigs fortification and its influx of Yellow Jacket wasps in the warmer months.
The city wanted a new lower league football (soccer) team which drew inspiration from Fort Meigs but more importantly, the Yellow Jacket Wasp - as this would be critical to the club’s name, nickname and mascot. The club wanted a traditional but modern approach to the crest design to reflect the city’s rich heritage but also their future.
The Project
A bold and unique crest which puts the club’s namesake and sport front and centre. The Yellow Jacket sits upon an arrowhead which is symbolic of Fort Meigs and the city’s past conflicts. The design and style allows the crest to be used across a range of media at various sizes whilst retaining legibility. A secondary crest and logomark were both created to allow for brand versatility.
